Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, November 7, TechInsights released a report today that although the size of the global tablet market is still declining due to residual demand after the epidemic and continuing economic challenges in major global markets, Q3 in 2023, global tablet market shipments fell 14% year on year, the best market performance so far this year.

Compared with last year, the performance of all the leading tablet makers has declined, but most of them have outperformed the overall market.

The main contents of the report include:

Apple's iPad global shipments (wholesale) fell 13% year-on-year to 13 million, with a market share of 39%. In the same period last year, Apple was busy fulfilling orders that surged due to severe supply disruptions, resulting in relatively low results this year.

Global Android tablet shipments fell 16% year-on-year to 16 million, with market share falling to 48%; most Android makers performed relatively well, but at the expense of the shrinking white market.

Shipments of Windows tablets fell 28% year-on-year to 2.7 million, with a market share of 8%. Some top manufacturers' removable devices are pulling out of Windows in 2023, and Microsoft's terminal division is experiencing turmoil.

Samsung led the Android tablet market with 6 million shipments, down 16% from a year earlier, and its market share fell slightly to 18%; this was within our expectations, and the company's revenue was boosted by good demand for its new Galaxy Tab S9.

Amazon shipped 3 million Fire tablets, down 19% from the same period last year, and its market share fell to 9%. Prime Day brought a continuous increase in shipments, and the new Fire Max 11 brought considerable demand for new, higher-priced tablets.

Lenovo's tablet shipments fell just 4 per cent year-on-year to 2.6 million, while market share rose to 8 per cent; Lenovo performed better than expected in all parts of the world.

Huawei ranks in the top five with 1.4 million tablet shipments, down only 4 per cent from a year earlier and a market share of 4 per cent; the company is recovering in the domestic market and is building an end-user base based on Hongmeng.

CTOnews.com note: this report includes quarterly global tablet shipments (by operating system and the top five vendors). The operating systems covered include iOS / iPad, Android, Windows and others (including Chrome and Hongmeng OS).
