An Indian government official said: "Although the agenda of the meeting focuses on general policy issues, Tesla's proposed investment plans in the country will receive fast-track approval by January 2024. "

According to sources in the Economic Times, the prime minister's office held meetings with senior government officials to discuss policies, including an import tax on electric vehicles. Earlier, discussions at Tesla's India plant stalled over the local government's refusal to lower import tariffs on electric carmakers 'cars.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Tesla representatives will meet with Indian Commerce Minister Goyal to discuss building a car factory to produce an electric car worth $24,000 (currently about 175,000 yuan), possibly the legendary Model Q.

Tesla has expressed interest in building an automotive plant in India to produce low-cost electric vehicles, people familiar with the matter said at the time. The model will be sold in India and exported to other countries. If true, the $24000 electric car would be 25 percent cheaper than Tesla's currently cheapest Model 3.
