Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, Nov. 7 (Xinhua)-- at today's first OpenAI developer conference, OpenAI unveiled the "Copyright Shield" feature, which OpenAI claimed was "intended to allay concerns about the potential infringement risks of generative AI."
OpenAI said that if a user is asked to file a legal claim for "copyright infringement" caused by AI-generated content, OpenAI will intervene and defend the customer and reimburse in full the costs incurred in the process.
CTOnews.com found that the features apply to ChatGPT Enterprise and all API users, but only if the user "has no intention of infringement" and uses "citation sources" under responsible AI use.
OpenAI introduces the "Copyright Shield" function as follows:
OpenAI is committed to protecting our customers through copyright protection built into the system.
Generative AI models such as ChatGPT, GPT-4, and DALL ·E 3 'learn' from examples to write articles and code, create works of art and music, and even write lyrics to accompany the music. These AI tools have been trained in millions to billions of e-books, works of art, e-mail, songs, audio clips, recordings, and so on, most of them from public websites.
Some of these examples are in the public domain-in terms of the data side that OpenAI crawls on the web. These data parties did not submit a restrictive license to OpenAI.
In a recent Acrolinx survey of Fortune 500 companies, nearly 1/3 of people said intellectual property was their biggest concern about using generative AI. Another poll found that 9max 10 developers give "great consideration" to intellectual property protection when deciding whether to use generative AI.
While some generative AI suppliers promise to protect customers who use their generated artificial intelligence tools in financial and other ways, others have issued policies to protect themselves from liability, allowing customers to bear legal bills.
IBM, Microsoft, Amazon, Getty Images, Shutterstock and Adobe have made it clear that if users encounter problems, the platform will pay the bill. Today, OpenAI officially joined the group.
