CTOnews.com, November 6 (Xinhua)-- at the launch of MediaTek's flagship chip tonight, MediaTek officially unveiled the new generation of flagship mobile platform Tianji 9300, which is also the world's first large-core smartphone chip.

MediaTek said at a press conference that MediaTek's smartphone SoC ranked first in the global market share for three consecutive years.

MediaTek said that Tianji 9300 is a "flagship 5G generative AI mobile chip", which is Tianji's first "4 (super large core) + 4 (large core)" all-large core AI flagship chip. Using TSMC's new generation 4nm process, it has 22.7 billion transistors.

CTOnews.com learned from the press conference that Tianji 9300 uses 1 × 3.25GHz Cortex-X4 + 3 × 2.85GHz Cortex-X4 + 4 × 2.0GHz A720 and does not use low-performance Arm Cortex-A5XX series cores. Tianji 9300 has 8MB level 3 cache + 10MB system cache, compared with Tianji 9200, the performance is improved by 15% under the same energy consumption, the multi-core peak performance is improved by 40%, and the energy consumption is reduced by 33% under the same performance. MediaTek said that under the all-core architecture, the power consumption of Tianji 9300 is lower than that of Tianji 9200.

With the support of MediaTek AI processor APU 790s, Tianji 9300's flagship 5G generative AI mobile chip can continuously perform low-rank adaptive (LoRA,Low-Rank Adaptation) fusion on the end-side based on the basic large model, thus giving the basic large model more comprehensive capabilities. In addition, MediaTek's AI development platform NeuroPilot also builds a rich AI ecology, supporting cutting-edge mainstream AI models such as Android, Meta LIama 2, Baidu Wenxin big model and Baichuan intelligent Baichuan big model, bringing users a terminal-side generative AI innovation experience, including text, image, music and other fields.

Tianji 9300 upgraded to Imagiq 990ISP, supporting AI semantic segmentation video engine, 16-layer image semantic segmentation, depth of field and spot dual engine, full pixel focus superimposed 2x lossless zoom, OIS optical anti-shake core, 3 microphone high dynamic recording noise reduction, can filter wind noise of more than 99% of 25km/h wind speed.

The Tianji 9300 is also equipped with a new secure boot chip, an isolated secure computing environment and Armv9's memory tag extension, which can help developers avoid memory vulnerability exploitation, thus making upcoming smartphones more secure. Network upgrades are more iterative. Tianji 9300 supports Wi-Fi 7 and 5G sub-6GHz bands and downlink rates up to 7Gbps. In terms of Bluetooth connection, Tianji 9300 supports three Bluetooth antennas and unique two-way Bluetooth flash technology, bringing ultra-low latency Bluetooth audio experience.

MediaTek said the first smartphone using the Tianji 9300 chip is expected to be available by the end of 2023.
