Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens, soft media new friends 1933769, SNOS Snow for the delivery of clues! According to CTOnews.com news on November 6, Canalys today released global tablet shipments statistics for the third quarter. CTOnews.com learned from Canalys that global tablet shipments in the third quarter were 33 million, down 7% from a year earlier and up 8% from a month earlier.

Global tablet shipments reached 33 million in the third quarter of 2023, down 7 per cent from a year earlier, but up 8 per cent from a month earlier, reflecting signs of recovery in the tablet market ahead of the important holiday season.

Newcomers are also strong in this area, such as Xiaomi's tablet shipments growing at an annual rate of 119.7% and Huawei's tablet shipments at an annual rate of 28.2%.

"as inventory levels stabilize, tablet shipments are growing month-on-month, which bodes well for the upcoming holiday season, and continued discounts and new product launches are expected to put the market back on track and achieve year-on-year growth," said Himani Mukka, research manager at Canalys.

In view of the changing needs of users around productivity and content consumption, high-end devices with large screens have become the new consumer outlet. In addition, tablet makers must give priority to integrating generative AI into their devices to maintain a competitive edge.

Leading vendors such as Apple and Samsung have said they will incorporate the AI experience into their hardware portfolios. As PCs and smartphones have made significant strides in AI, vendors must also ensure that their tablets keep pace to provide a consistent user experience and maintain interoperability between device ecosystems.

Canalys says smartphone makers are making a big push in the tablet market, especially in China, which is committed to product innovation and cost-effective:

Apple continues to rank first, with 12.5 million iPad shipments in the quarter, accounting for 38 per cent of the market.

Samsung ranked second with shipments of 6.2 million units, down 6%, while Lenovo ranked third with 2.6 million units.

Huawei and Xiaomi were fourth and fifth respectively, and Xiaomi made it into the top five for the first time, becoming the manufacturer with the highest growth rate.
