According to CTOnews.com news on November 6, Chen Lin, chairman of Shell China Group, said at the 2023 Shell China Media Communication Conference that the 25000 charging terminals operated by Shell in China in the third quarter of this year had achieved positive cash flow.

Shell has entered the charging pile business in China since 2018 and has no quantitative plans for the charging pile business in China, she said.

It is worth mentioning that Shell's largest electric vehicle charging station in the world officially opened in Shenzhen in September. The charging station is 2.5 kilometers away from the Shenzhen Airport Terminal and is equipped with 258 public fast charging terminals, which are operated by Shell BYD joint venture.

Istv á n Kapit á ny, executive vice-president of Shell's global retail and travel business, said that "Shell's utilization of charging stations in China has reached 2-3 times the average level of the Chinese industry".

According to reports, Shell currently has more than 40,000 public charging terminals in gas stations, transportation hubs, streets and supermarkets around the world, and is expected to increase to 200000 by 2030.

In addition, Shell operates a retail network of more than 2800 travel service stations (including about 2000 gas stations and about 800 independent electric vehicle charging stations) in China through joint ventures and wholly-owned enterprises. it has 25000 charging terminals for public electric vehicles.

CTOnews.com Inquiry found that Shell's joint venture with BYD currently operates more than 13000 electric vehicle charging terminals in Shenzhen and plans to expand its charging network to other Chinese cities in the future.
