However, as the Galaxy S23 series seems to have regained the pace of the market, Samsung now expects its next generation of flagship phones, the Galaxy S24 series, to sell better than the Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung has set a shipping target of 3500 million units for the Galaxy S24 series, 10 per cent higher than the Galaxy S23 series, according to The Korea Daily. Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy S24 series in January 2024, which will be the company's first "AI Galaxy Phone". By contrast, the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 each sold less than 30 million units, while the Galaxy S23 series sold 31 million. It is reported that Samsung revealed earlier today that it expects to ship 253 million smartphones in 2024, including the Galaxy S24 series.

Samsung's shipments may fluctuate slightly depending on market conditions, but the company's goal of higher shipments has been set, according to an industry insider. Analysts expect Apple and Samsung to ship around 250 million units next year, and some even expect Apple to overtake Samsung in 2024, which should be a worrying sign for Samsung, which has maintained the world's largest smartphone brand for years in a row.

It is reported that more than 75% of Samsung's mobile phones sold worldwide are low-cost models. According to some analysts, Samsung's smartphone ASP (average selling price) is $295 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2156 yuan), while Apple's ASP is $988 (currently about 7222 yuan). In response, Samsung has reportedly designated 2024 as the first year of its flagship smartphone counterattack, plans to sell more high-end phones, and hopes to include more high-end Galaxy phones in the top 10 best-selling smartphones.

In addition, Samsung is expected to sell more than 1000 Galaxy Z-series smartphones.

According to reports, Samsung believes that if it can introduce AI technology into its smartphones and improve its operating system, it can narrow the gap with Apple. To this end, Samsung is understood to have partnered with Google and Microsoft to introduce Google Bard or ChatGPT into its smartphones, starting with the Galaxy S24 series.
