Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Alejandro86, soft media new friend 1933769, former Apple user, shining clue delivery! CTOnews.com, Nov. 5-Apple's 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M3 Pro chip has appeared on the Geekbench. The Geekbench 6 score shows that the chip is a little bit better than the M2 Pro.

According to the "Mac15,6" identifier listed by Geekbench, the score comes from the 14-inch MacBook Pro model. The machine runs macOS 14.1 system and is equipped with 36.00 GB memory.

The results showed that the basic frequency of M3 Pro was 4.05GHz, the score of single core was 3035 and that of multi-core was 15173. For reference, the 14-inch MacBook Pro 2023 (M2 Pro) included in Geekbench has an average score of 2644 for single core and 14229 for multi-core.

In other words, its single-core performance is 14.79% stronger than M2 Pro, while multi-core performance is 6.63% stronger, about 10.93% and 4.66% higher than 12-core M2 Max.

According to previous reports from CTOnews.com, the M3 Max chip has also appeared on this running platform, with a single core score of more than 3200 points, a multi-core score of more than 21600 points, and a single-core score of 17.4% and 49.1% faster than M2 Max.

For comparison, the Mac Studio with M2 Ultra scored 2832 for single core and 21497 for multi-core. By comparison, the single core of M3 Max is 13.38% higher than that of M2 Ultra, and the multicore is basically the same.

Judging from the Geekbench 6 Metal running score of the M3 Max chip, this chip is about 20% stronger than M2 Max, which is equivalent to the performance gap between A17 Pro and A16 Bionic.

The most high-end M3 Max version is tested in Geekbench 6 Metal, with 40 cores GPU. The earliest Metal score is 158466, which is about 20% higher than M2 Max and only slightly faster than M1 Ultra with a maximum of 64 cores.

In the Metal test, the previous generation of King M2 Ultra can achieve a score of about 208621 points, so the gap between the two chips is very obvious, but after all, the two SoC are used for different purposes, one for laptops and the other for desktops.

In terms of GPU, the GFXBench score of Apple's M3 Max is close to that of the mobile RTX 4080, or even 7% lower. This level translates to almost the level of desktop RTX 4070, which is very strong.
