According to officials, BMW has more than 20 years of experience in hydrogen fuel cell technology research and development. The total output power of the iX5 hydrogen fuel cell vehicle can reach 295kW, and the high-performance fuel cell can output electricity from 125kW. The vehicle can accelerate 100 kilometers in 6 seconds, and the maximum mileage under WLTP conditions can reach 504km. It takes 3-4 minutes to fill the hydrogen storage tank.

The iX5 hydrogen fuel cell vehicle unveiled at the Expo has begun its first road test in China some time ago. it is based on the European version of the standard wheelbase X5 model and can store 6kg hydrogen in the hydrogen storage tank. BMW has previously said that hydrogen energy will be an indispensable "another way" for new energy vehicles in the future, and plans to produce hydrogen energy vehicles around 2030.

However, the car should actually be counted as a "technical verification" model, and there is a good chance that it will not be put on the market in mass production.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, BMW announced in July that it would launch an empirical test of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Japan, with Toyota providing some of the technology for the fuel cell system. The aim of the test is to decarbonize cars through "a variety of technologies", rather than relying solely on pure electric vehicles.
