Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, November 4, according to foreign science and technology media 9to5Mac reports, macOS Sonoma 14.1 system introduced a new guard system called "liquiddetectiond", which can help identify whether the Mac port is in contact with liquid, or in a high humidity environment.

The daemon system, officially described as the "liquid detection and corrosion mitigation daemon" (Liquid Detection and Corrosion Mitigation Daemon), runs by default in the background and collects liquid detection and analysis data for each USB-C port on the Mac device.

Apple has similar daemons on the iPhone and iPad to alert users when a liquid is detected in the connector so that they can unplug the charging cable immediately to prevent further damage.

However, on Mac devices, the code display of the daemon is for "analysis" only and is not associated with the end-user feature for the time being, and the media believes that the data collected by the daemon will help technicians determine whether Mac is eligible for free maintenance.

Of course, this is just another way for Apple to know if Mac is exposed to liquid. CTOnews.com is enclosing the Apple support document as follows:

Today's Mac laptops and some Apple wired and wireless keyboards are equipped with liquid contact indicators (LCI) to help determine if these products have come into contact with liquids.
