Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, November 3 (Xinhua)-- according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, revenue in the global smartphone market in the third quarter of 2023 was just over $100 billion, up 15% from the previous quarter.

Although Apple's iPhone 15 series was launched a week less than the same period last year as a share of global smartphone revenue, Apple took the lead with 43 per cent, the highest share ever recorded in the third quarter.

Senior analyst Harmeet Singh Walia said:

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is the best-selling model in the iPhone 15 series and contributed to Apple's highest-ever third-quarter operating profit.

But Apple's revenue in China fell 2.5 per cent in the quarter due to the recovery of Huawei and Glory, as well as the growing profitability of other Chinese handset makers such as Xiaomi and OPPO.

Samsung owes its credit to the successful launch of Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 foldable phones, while the Galaxy S23 series continues to grow, with Samsung's average selling price up 4% year-on-year. Nonetheless, shipments fell 8 per cent over the same period, offsetting an increase in average selling prices, causing Samsung's revenue to fall 4 per cent year-on-year.

While OPPO focuses on higher-priced phones such as foldable phones, of which the OPPO Find N2 Flip is the best-selling phone in China, its slowing expansion outside China and India has led to a year-on-year decline in shipments, with OPPO's smartphone revenue in the first three quarters of 2023 at its lowest level since the outbreak.

Vivo's smartphone revenue fell 12% year-on-year, almost half of what it was in the third quarter of 2021.

Xiaomi is the only top five smartphone brand with both month-on-month and year-on-year growth in shipments in the third quarter of 2023. Thanks to strong sales of the Redmi K and Note series, Xiaomi consolidated its position in major markets such as China and India, achieving month-on-month and year-on-year growth in revenue and operating profit.
