CTOnews.com news on November 3, according to the latest data released by TechInsights. Q3 worldwide shipped 296 million smartphones in 2023, down 0.3% from the same period last year, marking the ninth consecutive quarter of annual decline in smartphone sales.

Samsung shipped 59.5 million units, with a market share of 20%, down 7.6% from a year earlier.

Apple shipped 46.6 million units, with a market share of 15.7%, down 3.9% from a year earlier.

Xiaomi shipped 41.5 million units with a market share of 14.0%, an increase of 2.5% over the same period last year.

OPPO shipped 27.7 million units, with a market share of 9.3%, down 5.8% from a year earlier.

The volume of audio shipments was 26.4 million, with a market share of 8.9%, an increase of 39.7% over the same period last year.

Among the other brands, vivo ranked sixth on the list, with smartphone shipments falling 17% in 2023 compared with the same period last year; Glory handset benefited from the strong performance of the Chinese market, with a market share of 5% in this quarter and close to 5% in this quarter. Lenovo-Motorola ranked ninth with a market share of 4%, up 11% from the same period last year. Huawei ranks 10th on the list, with shipments up 44% year-on-year in the quarter.

TechInsights said the annual decline (for smartphones) had slowed sharply, from-8 per cent in the previous quarter to-0.3 per cent in this quarter, suggesting that it may have hit bottom and will have a modest rebound in 2024. Coupled with normal inventory levels and improved end-user demand, as well as new product release cycles from major manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple, the global smartphone market stabilized during the quarter.

It is worth mentioning that among the top 10 smartphone brands in the world, eight are Chinese brands, of which Xiaomi, Chuanyuan, Glory, Lenovo-Motorola and Huawei have achieved positive annual growth rates. All these Chinese brands have achieved an annual growth rate of 5%.
