CTOnews.com, November 3 (Xinhua)-- Collins, a well-known British dictionary publisher, has announced the results of his 2023 word of the year: artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to Collins Dictionary, AI, which refers to "the simulation of human mental function by computer programs", was chosen as the word of the year because it has developed "so fast" and has become a mainstream topic in 2023. The use of the word (technically an acronym) has quadrupled in the past year.

Alex Beecroft, managing director of Collins, gave a further explanation. "there is no doubt that AI is the topic of the year in 2023," he said. "as we know, the way AI develops is one of the focuses this year, and it has been rapidly integrated into every aspect of our lives, just like email, streaming or other technologies that once represented futurism and are now everyday technologies."
