CTOnews.com, November 3, Nokia recently released the "Global Network Traffic 2030" report, which estimates that by 2030, the number of global mobile users will reach 10.3 billion, of which 5G network users will reach 5.6 billion, accounting for more than 50%.

According to the report, nearly 92% of the world's mobile users will adopt 4G / 5G technology in 2030, and it is estimated that the average monthly traffic consumption per user will reach 46.4GB.

Another bright spot reported by Nokia is that the number of fixed wireless access (FWA) users worldwide will increase to about 271 million by 2030.

Instead of relying on wired connections such as fiber optic cables, FWA uses wireless technology to provide high-speed Internet for fixed locations, making it easier to cover rural areas with Internet connections.

The report points out that the number of global FWA connections will reach 271 million by 2030, the Asia-Pacific region (including India) will become the leading region, and the total number of FWA subscriptions is expected to reach 121 million by 2030.

The report further indicates that video applications will continue to be the main traffic driver, accounting for 72% of global mobile data traffic in 2020. By 2030, it will account for 60% of all mobile traffic.

Traffic from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, Instagram, Snapchat and other social networks will continue to contribute 11% steadily in 2030.
