CTOnews.com November 3, the latest news that Microsoft will cancel most of its 238000 employees' free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription benefits, some people are not happy about this.

Sources familiar with Microsoft's plans told foreign media The Verge that the company began notifying employees this week that free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate benefits for full-time Microsoft employees would no longer be available in January 2024.

Microsoft Xbox employees will continue to retain the benefit, but the vast majority of Microsoft employees who do not belong to Xbox / Microsoft Gaming will lose the benefit next year, the report said. However, Microsoft employees will be able to buy 12-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions at a discounted price.

Some Microsoft employees have expressed their opposition to the cancellation of benefits on the company's internal messaging platform. The employees' posts even prompted Phil Spencer, Xbox's chief executive, to respond, saying he was not aware of the changes and was investigating the situation.

The news comes a few months after the first price increase for Microsoft Xbox Game Pass, which CTOnews.com reported that Microsoft had raised its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from $14.99 to $16.99 a month, while the price of Xbox Series X games consoles has also risen in most markets outside the United States. Microsoft also launched Xbox Game Pass Core subscriptions in September to replace Xbox Live Gold Gold members.

Spencer warned more than a year ago that Xbox Game Pass growth on the mainframe had slowed and Microsoft chose to focus more on PC Game Pass in 2023. Microsoft has not provided updated Game Pass subscribers for nearly two years.
