Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, Nov. 3, CEO Cook was asked about artificial intelligence (AI) and revealed some details during Apple's fourth quarter 2023 report conference call today.

If you take a closer look at what we do with AI and machine learning, and how we use them, then these are indispensable "basic technologies" for us to produce every product.

For example, our iOS 17 includes functions such as personal voice and real-time voicemail, and AI is the core of these functions. You can also learn more about a range of "life-saving" functions on watches and mobile phones, such as fall detection, car accident detection, and electrocardiograms on watches. Without AI, these functions would not be possible.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are used behind these functions, but we do not deliberately use the word "AI" to promote them because we prefer to bring more valuable functions from the consumer's point of view.

We have already started work on generative AI, but I am not going to go into details. What you can be sure is that we are investing a lot of money and we will do it responsibly. Over time, you will see improvements in products centered on these technologies.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Bloomberg said in a report last month that Apple is quietly catching up with competitors in AI, stepping up recruitment efforts related to AI on the one hand, accelerating the maturity and landing of AI technology through mergers and acquisitions of start-ups on the other, and has begun to develop a large language model internally.

In addition, Bloomberg Mark Gurman said in an Power On newsletter last month that "smarter" Siri assistants won't be ready until next year at the earliest, that there are still concerns within Apple about the technology, and that it may take longer for Apple's AI feature to spread to its product line.

Related readings:

"the report says Apple lays out the AI area in a low profile: it has acquired more than 20 companies, and its subscription model has an advantage over competitors."

"Apple plans to invest $1 billion a year to apply generative AI to a range of products and services such as iOS, Siri, Apple Music, Xcode, etc."
