CTOnews.com, Nov. 3-Apple today reported that revenue from its iPad business fell 11% to $6.4 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023 (the third quarter of 2023), compared with $7.2 billion in the same period last year.

Tim Cook, Apple's chief executive, said in a subsequent conference call that revenue from the new iPad was expected to "slow significantly" in the next quarter because it did not launch a new product in 2023.

Cook said that despite an 11% year-on-year drop in iPad revenue, iPad still sets the "gold standard" for tablets.

Cook said that due to tight supply chains in 2022, many pent-up demand was released and met in the third quarter of last year, so this year's sales figures will be "ugly".

Cook admitted that Apple did not launch any new iPad products this year, and almost confirmed that Apple would not launch a new iPad,CTOnews.com in November or December.

We expect year-on-year revenue performance for iPad and wearables, homes and accessories to slow significantly compared with Q3 as we adjust the release time of our products.

On iPad, we launched the new iPad Pro and the 10th generation iPad in the fourth quarter of last year.

Apple's latest iPad products are M2 iPad Pro and iPad 10 iPad Pro in October 2022 and iPad Air 5 in March 2022; in addition, iPad mini has not been updated since September 2021.
