CTOnews.com, November 2, AMD announced today that its new R5 7545U and R3 7440U processors will be used in notebooks, introducing a density-optimized Zen 4c microarchitecture with a smaller core package size.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, the R5 7540U and R3 7440U processors have been released before. Now, AMD has updated this series of processors, upgrading R5 7540U from 6 Zen4 core to R5 7545U from 2 core Zen4 + 4 core Zen4 c.

In terms of parameters, R57545U has 6 cores and 12 threads, and the acceleration frequency can reach 4.9GHz TDP 15-30W, equipped with 4CU kernel display. R3 7440U consists of 4 cores and 8 threads. The acceleration frequency can reach 4.7 GHz TDP 15-30 W, equipped with 4CU kernel display.

According to reports, the Zen 4c architecture is an optimized version of the Zen 4 microarchitecture, making its debut in AMD EPYC 9704 Bergamo and EPYC 8004 Siena data center processors. The new processor introduces a hybrid design of Zen 4 and Zen 4c cores, but unlike Intel's P and E cores, AMD says Zen 4c retains all the functions of Zen 4, including the same instruction set, IPC, and cache structure. The core area of Zen 4 is 3.84mm square. By contrast, the core panel of the Zen 4c is only 2.48sq mm, a 35 per cent reduction.

As shown in the figure above, the R57545U of the 2-core Zen4 + 4-core Zen4 c has better multi-core performance at 10-15W power consumption than the R5 7540U of the 6 Zen4 core.
