CTOnews.com, Nov. 2 (Xinhua)-- NASA recently used the James Weber Space Telescope to capture new details of the Crab Nebula (Crab Nebula), helping astronomers better study the astronomical phenomenon of stars becoming supernovae after death.
CTOnews.com Note: the Crab Nebula (Crab Nebula), a supernova remnant and pulsating wind nebula northeast of Zeta Taurus, is part of the Imperial arm of the Milky way galaxy, about 6500 light-years from Earth, 11 light-years across and expanding at a speed of about 1500 kilometers per second.
Astronomers have previously used the Hubble Space Telescope to observe the Crab Nebula, but this time the infrared light of the James Webb Space Telescope took a closer look and found more details.
A side-by-side comparison of the Crab Nebula seen in infrared light by the Hubble Space Telescope (left) and the James Webb Space Telescope (right) reveals different details. Astronomers hope to delve deeper into these photos, combined with other observations, to solve many of the mysteries of the Crab Nebula and contribute to the overall model of the universe in the future.
