According to reports, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, together with the Institute of Precision Measurement Science and Technology Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Sun Yat-sen University, are preparing to build a "precision gravity measurement research facility", which will start construction in 2018. The facility is a major scientific and technological infrastructure project in China's 12th five-year Plan, with a construction period of 5 years, relying on the Gravity Center of the School of Physics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The main construction contents include two major platforms of gravity measurement datum and physical simulation, a scientific research complex of 30,000 square meters and a cave laboratory of 6,000 square meters.
