CTOnews.com, November 1, AMD recently released financial results for the third quarter of 2023, with total revenue of $5.8 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 42.456 billion yuan), an increase of 4% year-on-year, operating profit of $224 million, net profit of $299 million, and gross profit margin of 47%.

AMD forecast revenue of $6.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2023, up 9% from a year earlier, but lower than analysts had expected, causing the share price to fall 4.25% in after-hours trading.

Of this total, revenue from the data center division was $1.6 billion; revenue from the customer department was $1.5 billion, up 42 per cent from the same period last year; revenue from the games division was $1.5 billion, down 8 per cent from the same period last year; and revenue from the embedded division was $1.2 billion, down 5 per cent from the same period last year.

Dr. Lisa Su, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AMD, said:

Driven by demand for Ryzen 7000 series PC processors and record sales of server processors, we have achieved strong revenue and profit growth.

With the strength of our EPYC CPU portfolio and increased shipments of Instinct MI300 accelerators, our data center business is on an accelerated track, providing multiple deployment support for very large-scale, enterprise and artificial intelligence customers.

GAAP revenue for the quarter was $5.8 billion, up from $5.565 billion in the third quarter of 2022. GAAP gross profit was $2.747 billion, up from $2.354 billion in the third quarter of 2022, with a 17% increase in gross profit.

Revenue from AMD's gaming division fell 8 per cent, blamed on reduced demand for semi-custom chips from devices such as Xbox Series X and PS5.
