Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, October 31 (Xinhua)-- Google has taken an important step in improving the security of its Chrome browser: users who visit insecure HTTP links will automatically upgrade to HTTPS requests.
This feature, called HTTPS-Upgrades, automatically attempts to jump to the encrypted https:// protocol to visit the site after users visit old links to http://.
Google began rolling out the feature in Chrome browsers in July this year, and it has launched the feature to all users in stable channels since October 16.
"We enabled HTTPS-Upgrades by default in the main branch version last week and have pushed it to all stable versions," said Chris Thompson, head of engineering project management at Google.
More information about HTTPS-Upgrades can be found here. CTOnews.com Note: when enabled, Chrome will automatically upgrade all URLs at the beginning of http:// to https://, a more secure protocol that encrypts users' network traffic. Even if the user clicks on a link that explicitly declares http://, Chrome will try to upgrade. If the upgrade fails, Chrome falls back to http://.
