Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com October 31, IBM recently issued a press release to alleviate the current shortage of programmers who are proficient in COBOL, a programming language designed and developed in 1959. Watsonx, a generative AI programming assistant, has been launched.
CTOnews.com previously reported that IBM launched a "IBM Z" service in August this year, mainly converting COBOL into Java, and recently officially launched under the name "watsonx".
The core functionality of Watsonx simplifies the conversion of COBOL code to Java, a process designed to modernize mainframe computers. IBM said that the artificial intelligence assistant has extremely high accuracy in code translation, thus reducing the possibility of common syntax errors in line-by-line translation.
To improve the reliability of the output, IBM plans to release an automated unit test tool that will help review the converted code.
It is reported that the CodeNet model behind Watsonx uses 1.5 trillion parameters for training, has 20 billion parameters, and designs a large context window-- 32000 parameters-- to "capture a wider context" to achieve "more efficient COBOL-to-Java conversion."
