Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, October 31, it is not uncommon for server processors to support more instructions than the desktop side. But the whistleblower @ InstLatX64 found that the Intel Arrow Lake S desktop CPU will support more instructions than the laptop CPU.

According to the "50th Future ISA Guide" file, the Arrow Lake processor in the LGA1851 package will support instructions such as AVX-VNNI-INT16, SHA512, SM3 and SM4. In addition, the CPU will support LBR event logging.

None of these instructions can be carried in the mobile Arrow Lake processor, probably because the ultra-low power x86 core in the SoC chip does not support these instructions. Intel officials did not give a specific explanation.

Among them, AVX-VNNI-INT16 is a vector neural network instruction with 16-bit integer data type, which is specially used for accelerated convolution neural network (CNN) and deep learning workload for spanning AI. SHA512, SM3, and SM4 are encryption technologies designed to accelerate appropriate encryption algorithms.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Intel Arrow Lake-S is the next-generation desktop CPU platform (15-generation Core), which will use a new LGA-1851 slot and is expected to be available in the second half of 2024.

Intel Arrow Lake-S is expected to improve single-threaded workloads by 5% and multithreading by 15% compared to Raptor Lake Refresh.

The next generation of desktops and mobile devices will adopt a new micro-architecture, in which the performance core is called Lion Cove and the efficiency core is called Skymont. These new series will also adopt Intel 20A process nodes and Alchemist-based Xe-LPG architecture.
