CTOnews.com, Oct. 31, Qualcomm recently shared the benchmark data of Snapdragon X Elite processor after the official reference score of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor was released, and the results of single-core and multi-core running scores are satisfactory.

23W and 80W demo versions: in the experience area, Qualcomm showed participants two laptops, the 23W version focused on battery life and the 80W version focused on performance.

There are other differences between the two reference laptops. The 80W configuration uses a 16.5inch screen with the highest resolution of 3840x2160, and is equipped with a larger 87Wh battery with a thickness of 16.8mm.

The 23W configuration uses a 14.5-inch OLED screen with the highest resolution of 2880x1800 and is equipped with a 58Wh battery with a thickness of 15mm.

Both models have active cooling and are equipped with the latest LPDDR5x-8533 system memory.

Qualcomm officially tested the performance of two Snapdragon X Elite processors using software such as Cinebench 2024, Geekbench 6, 3DMark Wildlife Extreme, Aztec Ruins and UL Procyon AI, and quantitatively compared them with some chips from Apple, Intel and AMD.

Cinebench 2024

In Cinebench 2024, Snapdragon X Elite CPU with Oryon core architecture is said to provide 20 per cent higher single-core performance and twice as much multithreading performance than competitors.

Broken down, 80W chips are 9% faster than Apple M2, 15% faster than i7-13800H, 21% faster than Ryzen 9 7940HS chips, and 23W X Elite CPU are 1%, 6% and 12%, respectively.

In terms of multithreading scores, the X Elite 80W laptop is 22% faster than Intel, 25% faster than AMD, 28% faster than 23W chip, and more than twice faster than Apple M2 CPU.

Similarly, the 23W configuration keeps pace with higher-wattage Apple and Intel equivalents and is 66 per cent faster than Apple M2.

CPU running score test in Geekbench, the lead of single core is as high as 10%, and that of multi-core performance test is up to 50%. From the data point of view, both X Elite CPU retain the highest single-core performance of the test chip, but the main difference lies in multi-core testing.

80W X Elite configuration is 5% faster than Intel, 8% faster than 23W X Elite chip, 24% faster than AMD, and 50% faster than Apple solution.

GPU for the GPU benchmark, Qualcomm claims that the Aztec Ruins and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme benchmarks have been improved by 2.5 times and 67%, respectively. The Aztec Ruins benchmark supports a variety of API, including Vulkan, Metal, OpenGL ES 3.2, Desktop OpenGL, DirectX11, and DirectX12.

The UL Procyon AI benchmark is used to evaluate the reasoning performance of CPU, GPU and dedicated neural engines. Apple was excluded from the benchmark, while X Elite CPU was more than 10 times faster than its competitors.
