CTOnews.com, October 30 (Xinhua) in September this year, the European Union fined Intel 376 million euros for a market monopoly case between 2002 and 2007, accusing it of "blocking competitors from entering the market with naked restrictions."

Intel said in its third-quarter report that it plans to appeal the European Commission's decision to impose an antitrust fine of 376 million euros (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2.91 billion yuan).

EU antitrust authorities said in 2009 that Intel was trying to crack down on rival AMD by offering kickbacks to computer makers Dell, Hewlett-Packard, NEC and Lenovo to encourage them to buy chips from Intel, according to Tu Yuan's PixabayCTOnews.com inquiry.

In early 2022, Intel won a $1.2 billion fine (currently about 8.772 billion yuan) from EU antitrust regulators, and the European Union's general court in Luxembourg rejected most of the regulators' 2009 rulings.

The court said at the time that the analysis conducted by the EU antitrust regulator was incomplete and could not establish the necessary legal standards to judge the competitive impact of kickbacks. It is worth noting that the court stated that it was unable to determine damages related to Intel's actions, so it completely removed the part related to the fine.
