CTOnews.com October 30 news, Microsoft previously pushed Win11 23H2 version to the Release Preview channel, Microsoft in this update for the system to bring native RAR and 7-zip file support.

A Microsoft spokesman told bleepingcomputer that Windows 11 already supports.zip,.rar,.7z,.tar,.tar.gz,.tar.bz2,.tar.zst,.tar.xz,.tgz,.tbz2,.tzst,.txz, and other compression formats, but currently does not support compressed files encrypted with passwords.

A Microsoft spokesperson claimed that with the help of the open source libarchive project, Windows 11 is expected to add compression formats such as LZH, LZH and XAR in the future.

Note: libarchive is an open source C library designed to provide read and write support for a variety of compression formats. The main advantage of libarchive is cross-platform support, including Linux, Windows, macOS and other operating systems.

Microsoft Win11 23H2 will launch on September 26, bringing Copilot, RAR support, etc.
