According to reports, the ARJ21 passenger-to-cargo aircraft delivered this time will carry a maximum of 10 tons and have a designed range of 2778 kilometers, which is mainly used for the transport of goods, mail and express delivery on domestic and short-range international routes. The ARJ21 passenger-to-cargo project was officially established in May 2020 and was approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in January 2023, which has become the first successful practice of passenger-to-cargo conversion of commercial aircraft in China.

The first delivery of two ARJ21 passenger and cargo aircraft is expected to be put into Zhengzhou, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other routes to further expand the "air logistics channels" from the hinterland of the Central Plains to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, the Yangtze River Delta and other major urban agglomerations; as well as Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and other routes to provide diversified international logistics supply services.
