CTOnews.com reported on October 30 that Scania, a subsidiary of Chuantuo Group, broke ground on the second phase of the project in Rugao, Jiangsu Province, adding powertrain production on the basis of the vehicle project. The second phase of the project is scheduled to be put into production in 2025.

"on the second site, there will be engines, gearboxes, axle assemblies and corresponding painting, testing and logistics facilities," said Ruthger de Vries, president of industrial operations in Scania Asia. "with the combination of lot 1 and lot 2, we will have a complete production chain with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units in Rugao, and this plant will achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions."

CTOnews.com noted that Scania held the launch ceremony of the world's third production base in Rugao, Jiangsu Province on June 10, 2022, with a planned annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles, covering a total area of 360000 square meters, with an annual output value of 30 billion yuan, which is expected to be completed and put into production in December 2024.
