CTOnews.com October 30 news, Tencent announced the second phase of the "New Cornerstone Research Project" funding list, the plan is not more than 50 people, actually selected 46. The third phase of the New Cornerstone Fellowship Program will open applications in 2025.

The average age of the 46 researchers was 47, well below the 55-year-old threshold, including 10 post-80s, the youngest at 38, and five female scientists.

It is understood that Tianjin, Jinan, Wuhan, Guangzhou and other cities are on the list for the first time, including Sichuan Agricultural University, Yunnan University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and other universities.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Tencent launched the New Cornerstone Research Program last year, a new basic research funding project led by scientists and funded by Tencent under the guidance of the China Association for Science and Technology.

Tencent said it will invest 10 billion yuan within 10 years to steadily support a group of outstanding scientists to devote themselves to basic research and achieve "from 0 to 1" original innovation. For selected scientists, each person in the experimental class will receive no more than 5 million yuan per year, and each person in the theoretical class will receive no more than 3 million yuan per year, and the subsidy will last for five years.
