Professor Ding Jian's main research field is probability theory, with particular attention to the intersection of statistical physics and computer science. He received his bachelor's degree from Peking University from 2002 to 2006. he went to the United States to study and received his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011. he is now a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Mathematical Sciences of Peking University. In addition, he was invited to give a report at the International Congress of Mathematical Physics (ICMP2024) in 2024.

Among the 48 people who won the Scientific Exploration Award this year, they covered 10 categories, including mathematical physics, new chemical materials, astronomy and geosciences, life sciences, medical sciences, information electronics, energy and environment, advanced manufacturing, traffic architecture, and frontier crossover. Six of them, including Ding Jian, a professor at Peking University, won the "Mathematical Physics" category.
