Later, in 1946, based on vacuum tubes and other basic technologies, the world's first digital general-purpose computer, ENIAC, was born, bringing mankind into the great computer era.

When studying computers, scientists encounter a problem, that is, they are unable to quantify and express "information". If a concept does not even have a unit of calculation, how can we continue to study it?

This bottleneck was soon solved by Claude Shannon of Bell Labs.

Shannon put forward the information theory in 1948, and gave the quantification method of information (using probability theory) and the unit (bit, bit), which laid the theoretical foundation of information technology. His Shannon formula also laid the theoretical foundation of modern communication technology.

Since then, we have really ushered in the "information technology revolution" and moved towards "informationization".

Later, the software and hardware technologies related to computer technology are divided into information technology. The related industry is called the information industry. IT (Information Technology), a famous word, began to enter thousands of families.

The informationization of our country started in the 1980s and 1990s. At that time, PC, desktop operating system, database and other technologies appeared abroad and entered China with the reform and opening up.

Important units such as banks, telecommunications, railways and government departments have begun to use a large number of computer systems to improve work efficiency. Some wealthy families also began to own PC.

In 1989, we ordinary people at the counter of a domestic bank, also at that time, began to accept the concept of IT and informatization. The recognition of the value of information also increased rapidly in this period.

In the middle and late 1990s, the Internet began to break out and local area network technology began to popularize. Therefore, there is the concept of "networking". This concept is easy to identify, so I won't explain it much.

At the same time, another technology began to emerge and rise, and that is the Internet of things.

The Internet of things used to be a sensor network. At the end of the 1990s, with the popularity of the Internet, the network connection object from people to things, someone put forward the Internet of things.

For a long time after 2000, the Internet of things is based on short-range communication technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It was not until later, with the rise of 3G / 4G and the wide area of the Internet of things, that this concept really began to break out. When 5G comes, the entire communications industry will borrow the tuyere of 5G to package and promote the Internet of things, the so-called "Internet of everything".

The Internet of things has been talking for a long time, but it's time to get to the key point.

Under the domination of Moore's Law, chip technology has been frantically evolving, and human computing power is also rising. In terms of communications, from 2G to 5G, coupled with the popularity of optical fiber, connectivity is also soaring.

All of a sudden, people found that the upgrade of computing and connectivity technology gradually formed a chain:

Sensors and cameras, etc., generate data; communication technology, transport data; cloud computing and big data technology, processing and storage of data.

This chain accelerates the mapping of the whole physical world to the digital world. All the physical information is beginning to become digital information.

The biggest advantage of turning into digital information is that it can be calculated and processed with the help of IT computing power, which not only facilitates the management and control, but also facilitates the mining of data value. This can improve production efficiency, but also can bring real money.

This process is digital transformation.

To put it simply, with the help of IT and communication technology, to convert all production factors into digital information, so as to improve production efficiency and reduce costs, is the digital transformation.

Therefore, now and for some time in the future, we human beings are in the stage of digitization.

Artificial intelligence technology is very popular now. In fact, artificial intelligence is also a form of computing algorithm, which is used to do data processing and value mining. The digitization of AI artificial intelligence technology is introduced, which is called "digital intelligence". This is not difficult to understand, "number + intelligence".

The "numerical intelligence" of artificial intelligence is the real "wisdom".

At present, many so-called "smart ports", "smart campuses" and "smart hospitals" can only be regarded as information and networking, and digitalization is not at all (the whole chain is not open, or it is partially digitized), let alone intelligent (without AI technology).

Digital intellectualization is the most advanced stage we can see at present. No one knows what will happen after intellectualization, we can only let time tell us the answer.
