Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Alejandro86 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, Oct. 28 (Reuters)-Stellantis and the United Auto Workers Union (UAW) are about to reach an agreement, which could be finalised as early as Saturday to end a six-week strike.

After a lengthy meeting on Friday, talks between Stellantis and UAW are scheduled to resume in Detroit at 10:00 Sources say an interim agreement is likely to be finalised at Saturday's meeting. Negotiations between UAW and GM continued after 9 p.m. Friday.

GM and Stellantis both agreed to cooperate with Ford on key economic terms, including a 25% wage increase, but some final key issues, including the use of temporary workers, have been one of the final issues discussed, according to sources.

Stellantis has offered to produce new cars and new battery plants at a closed plant in Bellyfdale, Illinois, according to a person familiar with the matter.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Ford and UAW became the first of the big three Detroit automakers to resolve workers' strikes since mid-September. The deal could set the model for UAW's new contracts with GM and Stellantis.

Ford's deal includes a 25 per cent increase in wages for 57000 workers over the next four and a half years, an increase in pensions and the abolition of low wage classes. It also reduced the time it takes to receive a maximum wage from eight to three years, and UAW has the right to strike against factory closures.

UAW said total pay for the deal would rise by more than 33 per cent if compound interest and cost-of-living mechanisms were taken into account.
