Channel Mixer is a less used color adjustment tool in ps. Its principle is not intuitive and clear enough, so many people don't know how to use it. Today I will use a few pictures to demonstrate the use of Channel Mixer.

Note: the channel mixer is difficult and suitable for people with a certain foundation. Beginners are not recommended to learn.

Select "Image"-"adjust"-"Channel Mixer" in ps. Or find the Channel Mixer in the adjustment layer.

The output channel is the channel you want to modify. The color below is the area you want to modify.

If you select the red channel and adjust the green, you will modify the "red channel" value of the "green area" in the image.

We know that three primary colors are stored in the channel, and the principle of color mixing is as follows:

A color that can be composed of a mixture of colors on both sides.

If you increase the color on one side, you will move to that side; if you decrease, you will move to the other side.

Example 1. Open a picture, now is the green grass, if we want to adjust the feeling of autumn, we need to turn green into yellow. That is, add red to the green.

two。 In the Channel Mixer, select the red channel and increase the green value until the grass turns yellow.

3. Because the blue sky also contains a certain amount of green, so the blue sky is also added red, blue + red = magenta. (if it is pure blue, it will not be affected)

4. We choose blue again and lower the value until the sky returns to normal.

Knowledge point

We have come to a conclusion: if you want to get ①, just choose ③ and adjust the value of ②. Isn't that simple?

According to the conclusion of Article 1, we want ①, just change ② and ③ directly. Magenta is changed from the original blue, so it can be replaced by blue directly.

In this way, the formula becomes blue = blue-red.

We have deduced another conclusion: the color of the ② position is the original color of the picture.

For an example, let's look at a slightly more complex case.

1. Now there is a pink (magenta) flower that wants to be adjusted to red.

two。 Or according to the above conclusion, the target color is "red", what is to be adjusted is "magenta". According to the principle of color mixing, it is necessary to reduce "blue" from magenta in order to get red. Red = magenta-blue.

3. Now the problem is that the adjustment slider in the channel mixer has no magenta. When we look at the color of the flowers, we find that they are made up of "more red and blue" plus "medium green".

This means that it is possible to adjust "red" or "blue".

Select the blue channel, reduce the blue from 100 to 49 and the red from 0 to-89.

4. But the flowers don't turn red because they still contain some green, so we lower the green.

Choose the green channel, reduce the red and blue values, and the flowers turn red. The green background is also disturbed, so pull the green a little higher.

Red = magenta-blue, while magenta = red + blue

So, it's available.

Red = (red-blue) / (blue-blue).

We have deduced another conclusion: a color can be replaced by two primary colors that make up it.
