CTOnews.com, Oct. 28, at the quarterly earnings meeting held recently, Intel CEO Patrick Kissinger (Patrick Gelsinger) believes that even with the entry of AMD and Nvidia, ARM processors for PC are doomed to fail.

Image source: WccFtech Kissinger said: "the ARM chip, like the desktop system that aims to replace Windows, has been downgraded to a rather negligible role in the PC market."

Artificial intelligence chip giant Nvidia has begun designing a central processing unit (CPU) that runs Microsoft's Windows operating system and uses Arm's technology, CTOnews.com reported earlier, citing Reuters. AMD also plans to make PC chips based on Arm, according to sources. The chips are expected to be available around 2025.

Kissinger calmly responded to reports that AMD and Nvidia launched ARM-compatible PC processors, saying that there are still a lot of problems with ARM PC chips, Intel will not worry too much at present, and that it is well prepared to order ARM-compatible processors from competitors if the company needs them.

Kissinger said:

We take all our competitors seriously, but also based on the company's history, I don't think these ARM PC processors will sell well.

Microsoft recently released an estimate that the share of Arm processors in the PC field will grow from the current 14% to 25% by 2027, which should be described as more than "trivial".

However, Kissinger said that the interest of Nvidia and AMD in the PC field will further promote Intel's development in the PC market.

Intel will also benefit from the boom in artificial intelligence, the chief executive said. Client processors will be equipped with special units for hardware acceleration of such systems, and more than 100 million processors with x86-compatible architecture and corresponding capabilities will be available in the next two years.
