John Lennon made an audition of Now and Then in the 1970s, but it was never officially released. In 2021, director Peter Jackson produced the documentary series The Beatles: Get Back, which uses WingNut technology to edit some musical instruments and voices.

Now, the algorithm is used to process Lennon's voice in the demo recording so that it can retain the clarity of the original sound and separate it from the music played in the recording.

The song was released as an official song, with a 12-minute documentary "The Last Beatles Song" devoted to the creative history of the music. These included comments from Paul McCartney, Ringosta, George Harrison and Lennon's sons Sean Ono-Lennon and Peter Jackson.
