In the dialogue of "Global R & D Center Leaders Talk about the Future of R & D," Xu Feng, Director of Huawei Cloud PaaS Service Product Department, talked about how AI can empower developers and industries, and discussed in depth how to build a global technology driving source.

He pointed out that artificial intelligence highly compresses human knowledge. For example, Pangu developed a large model to learn more than 80 million code warehouses and more than 13 million technical documents, and its knowledge load far exceeds human individual ability. The hardware challenge is how to quickly provide greater computing power to the operating system as data grows exponentially. On the software side, the traditional layering approach is also gradually shifting to complete integration. Huawei's solution is to try to communicate with the operating system through natural language, and to provide a complete AI hardware solution from reasoning to training.

Huawei Open Source New Era: A New Starting Point for AI from an Open Source Perspective

It is worth noting that behind this technological change in the AI era, there is also a force that cannot be ignored_open source. It is open source that promotes the exchange and innovation of technology, provides impetus for the popularization and development of AI technology, and is the key to establishing cooperation and resonance in the global technology community.

How to make use of the prospect of open-source enabling AI, Ren Xudong, chief open source liaison officer of Huawei and director of CNCF, focused on "How to start a new era of AI following the wave of artificial intelligence?" The topic shared the deep integration of open source and large model ecology.

He pointed out that under the wave of AI, Huawei has applied AI to internal business processes and products, such as AI prediction failure repair, intelligent enabling of mobile phone terminals, and even trying to apply Wensheng diagram.

Ren Xudong gave an in-depth analysis of the strategic role of open source in building a large model ecosystem. He pointed out that although China is a big Internet country, there are still shortcomings in high-quality data in Chinese, which is very unfavorable for domestic large models in the next competition. Finally, he also placed special emphasis on infrastructure construction in the era of large models. Similar to the era of high-speed rail or smart cars, infrastructure in the digital infrastructure or smart era also needs open source support. He expects China to learn from past experiences in the infrastructure era and build high-quality infrastructure for the new digital era through open source.

Du Mingliang, Leader of OpenHarmony Media SIG and Chief Architect of Huawei Terminal BG Multimedia, delivered a keynote speech entitled "OpenHarmony Multimedia Design Thought."

First, he stressed the importance of an ecological orientation, advocating the globalization of generic capabilities, thereby avoiding duplication and waste of resources. Second, considering the changing scenarios of multimedia, OpenHarmony provides specialized capabilities for various scenarios at the bottom of the operating system, while deep integration of software and hardware ensures maximum synergy efficiency. OpenHarmony also provides developers with a full stack of solutions, including efficient development tools, media capability SDKs that cover the landscape, and test suites for application compatibility.

Ensuring compatibility between massive devices and applications and preventing ecological fragmentation are major challenges for ecological expansion. For this reason, Ren Yi, Huawei test tool technical expert and member of OpenHarmony Compatibility Working Group, brought "OpenHarmony Ecocompatibility Evaluation Technology Sharing," introducing the objectives, responsibilities and operation mode of OpenHarmony Compatibility Working Group, as well as key technologies and landing achievements constructed in OpenHarmony North-South Ecocompatibility Guarantee.

Ren said the OpenHarmony Compatibility Working Group needs to define the technical details of the operating system and provide OEMs with multiple product compatibility specification documents and compatibility test kits to ensure that developers develop applications that run smoothly on each OpenHarmony device. In terms of OpenHarmony northbound application compatibility evaluation, the OpenHarmony Compatibility Working Group designs application quality requirements in six dimensions (compatibility, performance, power consumption, stability, UX and safety) according to the characteristics of OpenHarmony system, and makes the test detection items as instrumental as possible to avoid manual differences in testing, so as to ensure the steady development of compatibility work.

Wang Zhiwen, head of OpenHarmony Knowledge System Working Group, gave a speech on "Introduction to OpenHarmony Open Source Library". Open source libraries are key production factors for application developers to improve efficiency and quality. As one of the two backbone code warehouses of OpenHarmony, OpenHarmony-TPC (hereinafter referred to as "OHOS-TPC") and three-party library SIG provide application developers with more than 40 large categories of 220 + high-frequency open source libraries such as media processing, UI components, network & protocols, high-performance caching, etc., and this number is still growing rapidly.

OpenHarmony also provides application developers with the OpenHarmony Package Management Platform (OHPM), which helps developers easily invoke various binary packages including ArkTS / JS and C\C++.

Wang Zhiwen also introduced that open source libraries are also the most feasible entry point for all developers to participate in the OpenHarmony ecosystem. As long as they can solve the real problems of developers, some open source libraries in the industry can even have only a few lines of core code. At present, developers from various industries are actively contributing their own OpenHarmony open source libraries. The 2023 Open Atom Global Open Source Summit held on June 11 honored 15 of them. We also expect more developers to participate in OHOS-TPC contributions and contribute to the Internet of Everything era.

Huifeng Hu, security architect of Huawei OpenHarmony, delivered a keynote speech on "OpenHarmony Security and Privacy Protection Technology Sharing", explaining the key concept of OpenHarmony security and privacy protection: privacy is the basic right of users, and security is an indispensable attribute of products. OpenHarmony follows five core principles for privacy protection: data localization, minimization, transparency, identity protection, and data security. Combining software and hardware to ensure continuous security of user data.

Hu Huifeng specifically mentioned that in order to ensure the security of data transmission between different devices, OpenHarmony uses hichain for mutual trust authentication. In distributed data transmission, it adopts a hierarchical hierarchical policy of devices, which ensures that highly sensitive data such as biometrics is stored only on devices with high security levels by classifying them from L1 to L5. To further improve security, OpenHarmony is working on security policies based on the full lifecycle of applications, using techniques such as code signing to ensure the authenticity and reliability of each line of code.

In the future, OpenHarmony's privacy protection measures will include static to dynamic data protection, combined with anonymization technology, and plans to introduce data leakage prevention mechanisms to ensure complete data isolation, thus providing users with more comprehensive privacy protection.
