Microsoft promoted Matt Booty to president of game content and studio, including new responsibilities for ZeniMax, and promoted Sarah Bond to president of Xbox, overseeing all work on Xbox platforms and hardware; Chris Capossela, chief marketing officer, will leave after 32 years at Microsoft.
This means that Booty will lead a larger Microsoft gaming team, including ZeniMax and Bethesda.
CEO Phil Spencer, Microsoft's gaming division, explained in an internal memo that "ZeniMax will continue to operate as a limited integrated entity, with Jamie Leder as president and CEO reporting to Matt."

Microsoft also announced that it will promote Yusuf Mehdi to executive vice president and consumer chief marketing officer. Microsoft will also transfer the consumer sales organization to the Microsoft game team. The team, led by Ami Silverman, is responsible for Microsoft's consumer retail.
"Ami's mission covers all consumer products, including devices and ideas (Windows, Surface, M365) and all game-related issues," Spencer explained. "the team's focus is to change game sales strategies and attract new audiences in different regional markets."
Microsoft's restructuring is mainly for reasons in games and artificial intelligence. Nadella said that "with the completion of our recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, we will increase our investment in the game business" and plans to announce which games will be available to Xbox Game Pass in the coming months.
