Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Alejandro86 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com Intel introduced a new 14th generation Core CPU earlier this month and quietly uploaded a new app in the Microsoft Store that helps improve PC game frame rates for some high-end 14th generation Core chips.

The app, called Intel Application Optimization, is based on an earlier app called Thread Detector. The app can be downloaded from Microsoft Store, and Intel has a dedicated web page describing how the app works.

Intel Application Optimization identifies and manages application resources in real time. This strategy optimizes thread scheduling for the selected software and improves performance of supported applications.

Officials also said that system responsiveness may vary depending on configuration and graphics capabilities. If the results do not meet expectations, users can disable Intel Application Optimization for all apps or for each app.

Intel says the app also lets users see which computer games can be optimized. It also provides the option to disable specific games in the list by clicking on the "Enable/Disable Individual Apps" tab.

The app currently only supports Windows 11 and some high-end 14th generation Core CPUs, summarized by CTOnews.com as follows:

Intel Core i9- 14900K

Intel Core i9-14900KF

Intel Core i7- 14700K

Intel Core i7-14700KF

Game-wise, the app currently only supports optimizations for Subway: Departure and Rainbow Six: Siege, with Reddit user LightMoisture claiming that he ran 339 FPS in Subway: Departure and 867 FPS in Rainbow Six: Siege on an i9- 14900K processor.
