Solidigm, the icon of ▲ Solidigm, is the former solid-state drive business unit of Intel and is now controlled by SK Hynix. Solidigm said it had "carried out a modest layoff" yesterday, but did not disclose further information.

"Solidigm has implemented layoffs due to the prolonged downturn in the semiconductor industry and its impact on market conditions," Solidigm said in a statement. Solidigm, which did not disclose the number of layoffs, had more than 2000 employees in 20 regions as of September 2022. Earlier this year, the company closed its branch in South Korea and hired an agent to handle sales in the country.

SK Hynix recently released its results for the third quarter of 2023, which showed a net loss of 2.185 trillion won (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 11.843 billion yuan). Even so for the parent company, the situation of Solidigm is worrying.
