CTOnews.com, October 26 (Xinhua) according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, sales of China's smartphone market fell 3% in the third quarter of 2023 from a year earlier, narrowing the decline, believing that the market had hit bottom and signalling a recovery.

According to statistics, thanks to the newly launched Honor X50 and Glory 90 phones, Glory leads the market with a market share of 18.3%. Driven by competitive promotional prices, sales of the red rice K and Note series were strong, with Xiaomi growing 5 per cent year-on-year.

"both Glory and Xiaomi are focused on offering more affordable mid-range and promotional prices to retailers and consumers to offset any potential downward pressure," said Alicia Kong, a research analyst. "this strategy has proved to be effective."

Huawei's sales performance was the brightest in the third quarter, with smartphone shipments up 37% from a year earlier. Ivan Lam, a senior analyst at the agency, said:

The sales of Mate 60 are carried out under the pioneer plan, and most of them are achieved through channel sales. The product quickly gained widespread attention through the brand's offline and online channels, and Huawei is trying to increase production to meet demand.

OPPO, vivo and Apple have all seen double-digit declines. Ivan Lam, a senior analyst at the agency, said:

The decline in iPhone sales was due to the channel price reduction earlier than expected, which was not offset by the official price adjustment. Coupled with the initial supply constraints faced by the iPhone 15 series, sales during the release period were lower than those of the iPhone 14 series.

Traditional offline overlords OPPO and vivo are affected by weak consumption in second-tier and below cities, and their promotion efforts are also slightly lower than those of Glory and Xiaomi.

Sales of foldable smartphone models continue to grow. The OPPO Find N2 Flip is still the top-selling flip folding model, while the Honor Magic V2 ranks first among book-style folding phones.
