CTOnews.com October 26 news, according to the Launchpad page, Canonical announced the release plan of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, and the stable version is scheduled to be released on April 25, 2024.

According to the roadmap, the function will be frozen on February 29 next year, after which no major new features will be added without request and approval, and various BUG will be fixed to improve system stability.

Canonical plans to release Ubuntu 24.04 Beta on April 4 next year, and will undergo weeks of intensive testing to identify and resolve any noteworthy issues.

The full Ubuntu 24.04 code name is not clear and may be officially announced at the 2023 Ubuntu Summit in Riga, Latvia, in early November, but the first half will be confirmed as "Noble".

Ubuntu 24.04 is a long-term supported version that will receive 5 years of security updates, bug fixes, and select application updates, while Ubuntu Pro will provide an additional 5 years of security and 10 years of support.

Ubuntu 24.04 will be the 10th LTS version of Ubuntu since 2006.
