Recently, the "key Technologies and applications of Virtual reality (VR) Yunbian Collaborative Video Transmission" jointly developed by Xinhua Group 3, a subsidiary of Ziguang, together with Fudan University, Tongji University, University of Science and Technology of China and other universities, won the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award. This honor is not only an affirmation of the outstanding contribution made by Xinhua three in the field of virtual reality network transmission, but also a high recognition of the innovative achievements of Xinhua industry-university-research cooperation.

With the continuous maturity of mixed reality technology, the existing network can not meet the needs of VR, such as large amount of computation, large amount of data, low delay, high reliability and so on, which greatly limits the application of virtual reality (VR) in key areas of national economy. Xinhua Group "key Technologies and applications of Cloud-side Collaborative Video Transmission of Virtual reality (VR)" focus on cloud-side collaborative computing and caching of VR, VR video edge collaborative multicast technology, VR software definition heterogeneous fusion transmission exchange technology, and VR-oriented scene-aware coding technology. Relying on Xinhua 35G small station, it provides coverage supplement for application scenarios such as ultra-high traffic density and ultra-high data connection density, breaks through the key technical bottleneck of wireless communication in ultra-high definition video transmission, and realizes the high efficiency, stability and low delay of virtual reality video transmission.

This project cooperates with Fudan University, Tongji University, University of Science and Technology of China and other universities, obtains 60 invention patents, including 4 PCT, participates in compiling 2 standards and publishes 96 papers, including 75 SCI papers, 3 global highly cited and best papers. At the same time, the results of the project have been positively evaluated by Vincent Poor, academician of the American Academy of Sciences, and Shen Xuemin, academician of both Canadian academies.

The achievements of this project have been promoted and applied in Xinhua third Router, Wireless and other products, providing an important technical guarantee for highly reliable real-time communication of VR video, greatly strengthening the technology reserve of Chinese enterprises in VR industry, and laying a solid foundation for China to build a world-class VR industry development highland.
