CTOnews.com October 26, Qualcomm this week released the latest flagship chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which uses the CPU core of the ARM architecture. Qualcomm also revealed that its 2024 chip, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, will use the Oryon CPU core independently developed by Qualcomm.

Chris Patrick, senior vice president of Qualcomm, said customizing the CPU core "does not necessarily mean more expensive", but allows Qualcomm to find a different balance between pricing, power consumption and performance. However, CTOnews.com noted that he also admitted that the cost of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 may rise as Qualcomm pursues "amazing levels of performance".

If Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is really more expensive than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it could lead to an increase in the price of flagship phones in 2025, such as Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Xiaomi 15 series, and so on.
