Nearly a year later, Orange Pie officially announced today that Orange Pi OS (OH), based on OpenHarmony custom development, is about to be released.

A few days ago, the engineering team of Xunlong Hongmeng Open Source has completed the preliminary adaptation of Orange Pi OS (OH) to PC on Orange Pi 3B, a development board equipped with RK3566. This is the first time in China that Hongmeng Open Source Operating System runs on PC devices.

According to reports, Orange Pi OS (OH) has completed HDMI adaptation, 5-inch LCD display adaptation, touch function adaptation, customized system applications, boot animation, themes, wallpaper, settings, file manager, etc., supporting more than a dozen hap applications.

It can be seen from the relevant demonstration that this adaptation has supported the normal switching of the device. The original applications include taskbar, control center, settings, file manager, input method, browser, player, application mall, etc., with basic functions such as running popular App, which can meet basic office and entertainment needs.

According to the plan, Orange Pi OS (OH) will first adapt to three devices, all using ARM architecture CPU:

Orange Pi 3B development board with RK3566

Orange Pi 5 development board with RK3588S

Orange Pi 5 Plus development board with RK3588

The first one was the Orange Pi 3B. Orange Pi 3B adopts Ruixin Micro RK3566 quad-core 64-bit processor, 22nm technology, main frequency up to 1.8 GHz, integrated ARM Mali G52 2EE graphics processor, built-in AI accelerator NPU with 0.8 Tops computing power, with 2GB / 4GB / 8GB (LPDDR4/4X), supports 16GB /32GB/ 64GB / 128GB /256GB eMMC modules, supports 16MB / 32MB SPI Flash, has Wi-Fi5, BT5.0, supports BLE.

On the operating system, Orange Pi 3B supports Android 11, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11, Debian 12, open source Hongmeng 4.0 Beta1, Orange Pi OS (Arch), Orange Pi OS (OH) based on open source Hongmeng and other operating systems.

Orange Pi OS (OH) is currently only compatible with PCs that support ARM architecture, while Xunlong's next plan is to adapt to PCs with X86 architecture.
