CTOnews.com October 25 news, Mitsubishi Electric said on October 24 that it had proposed the establishment of a general standard for power semiconductors in international organizations.

Mitsubishi Electric said that power semiconductors are used in power conversion devices such as renewable energy and pure electric vehicles (EV). With the increasing demand for power semiconductors, if international standards are still not perfect, there will be risks such as the circulation of defective products.

Mitsubishi Electric has led the proposal at the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC, Geneva-based). At present, various industries, countries and regions have their own standards, but the international standards are not perfect. Mitsubishi Electric hopes that in addition to its own manufacturers of power semiconductors, power companies and automobile manufacturers that use power semiconductors will also participate in recent efforts to improve international standards within a few years.

CTOnews.com learned from the announcement that IEC's seminar was attended by about 60 people from 20 countries and made recommendations. Japanese enterprises include Mitsubishi Electric, Fuji Electric, Hitachi production and Power Transmission and Distribution Company Tokyo Electric Power Grid Company (TEPCO Power Grid) and so on. Overseas enterprises include Swiss ABB, German BMW and German large semiconductor company Infineon.
