CTOnews.com, Oct. 25, at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show, Honda confirmed the return of the Prelude sports car and showed off an electric concept car.

Last year, the Japanese car giant confirmed plans for two new electric sports cars: a smaller and cheaper model similar to the Prelude or S2000, and a flagship model that inherits the latest mid-range hybrid NSX.

Now, Honda has confirmed that the name Prelude will come back to life. The Honda Prelude, a classic two-door sports car launched in the 1980s, will be revived as an electric car.

CTOnews.com notes that the concept car has very smooth lines and no particularly exaggerated air intakes or aerodynamic details. The front face will be designed in a new style, with the central LED light belt showing an electric style, with a mesh intake grille and spoiler below to show a sense of movement.

From the side, the new car is still designed with two doors and hidden door handles, the exterior rearview mirror, roof and rims are blackened, and the front wheels are equipped with blue calipers to show a sense of performance. The rear of the car is also equipped with a fixed spoiler and the bottom is a through taillight design.

Honda has not confirmed the launch date of the mass production version of the Prelude, but has previously confirmed that it will be launched by 2030. Japanese media have previously said that the car is scheduled to be launched in 2028.
