Infineon said that the Ottawa-based company has brought Infineon a rich portfolio of gallium nitride (GaN) power conversion solutions and leading application technology. Having obtained all necessary regulatory approvals, GaN Systems has officially become an integral part of Infineon after the completion of the transaction.

At present, Infineon has 450 gallium nitride technical experts and more than 350 gallium nitride technology patent families. Infineon said that the company and GaN Systems complement each other in terms of intellectual property rights, deep understanding of applications and mature customer project planning, which creates extremely favorable conditions for Infineon to meet a variety of fast-growing application needs.

On March 2, 2023, Infineon and GaN Systems jointly announced that the two sides had signed a final agreement. Under the agreement, Infineon bought GaN Systems for $830 million (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 6.067 billion yuan). The "all-cash" acquisition was completed using existing liquidity.
