CTOnews.com News October 25,

Microsoft said in a press release that the Windows team introduced an experimental narrator feature in Excel that focuses on improving the screen reading experience for some scenarios.

CTOnews.com translated part of the content as follows:

Before update is enabled, the narrator uses "A1, selected, editable, column 2 row 2, item, test, cell"(currently selected and editable in cell A1, located in row 2 column 2, cell content is test).

When update is enabled, the narrator simply says "test, A1"(cell A1 is currently selected and contains test).

This adjustment saves time for people using screen readers and enables browsing through workbooks to find the right information more efficiently.

Microsoft also introduced other improvements to the Narrator feature in Excel:

New easier to read when navigating and selecting cells in tables and spreadsheets that don't use tables.

When cells contain non-textual or ambiguous information, such as conditional formatting, data validation, and formulas, read concise, unambiguous announcements.

Better handling of merged cells.

More information about collaborators on cells that others have selected or are editing.

Users can customize the order in which cells are read (e.g.,"A1 blank" versus "blank A1").
