CTOnews.com October 25 news, Microsoft released the first quarter of 2024 (ended September 30,2023) earnings report, revenue of 56.5 billion US dollars, compared with the same period last year increased by 13%, at constant exchange rates increased by 12%.

Operating profit of $26.9 billion, up 25%(up 24% at constant exchange rates)
Net income was $22.3 billion, up 27%(up 26% at constant exchange rates)
Diluted EPS of $2.99, up 27%(up 26% at constant exchange rates)
This growth was primarily driven by significant growth in cloud and Azure offerings, with the entire Intelligent Cloud segment growing 19 percent year-over-year.
Revenue from Productivity and Business Processes reached $18.6 billion, up 13%(up 12% at constant exchange rates).
Office business and consumer products grew 15 percent, or 14 percent at constant exchange rates, Microsoft Dynamics products and cloud services surged 22 percent, or 21 percent at constant exchange rates, and LinkedIn posted 8 percent year-over-year growth after laying off more than 600 employees.
Microsoft's largest revenue growth continued to come from cloud investments, with its Intelligent Cloud division, which includes Microsoft Azure, generating $24.3 billion in revenue, up 19 percent year-over-year. Azure server offerings and cloud services grew 21 percent, while all other cloud services grew 28 percent, or 26 percent at constant exchange rates.
More consumer-centric personal computing divisions actually posted year-over-year growth this quarter, albeit by a modest margin. Revenue from this segment was $13.7 billion, a modest increase of 3 per cent (2 per cent at constant exchange rates).
Microsoft Windows revenue edged up 5 percent, helped by Windows OEM revenue growth of 4 percent and Windows Business Products and Cloud Services revenue growth of 8 percent. Search and news advertising revenue also grew 10%(9% at constant exchange rates).
Microsoft's only significant revenue decline for the quarter was in its devices business (which includes Surface and Xbox consoles), where revenue fell 22% year-over-year, continuing a trend we've seen in recent quarters.
